Oops We forgot Therapy…

One of those parenting moments

Ever have one of those days where you think you've got everything under control, and then suddenly—oops—you completely forget something important? That was us today.

My husband came home for lunch, we had a quiet house with the kids at daycare. Then, we heard a knock on the door.

Oh no. Therapy. I had completely forgotten that today was therapy day.

Thankfully, the therapist was super understanding. She left and gave us 15 minutes to pick up the babies from daycare, so we avoided a major scramble. Crisis averted!

The therapy session ended up going great. We’ve recently started doing developmental therapy through our hospital to make sure the kids are on track. If you haven’t looked into these programs, I highly recommend them. They offer in-home assessments to check how your child is doing with developmental milestones and suggest therapy if needed. It’s been really helpful for us to have professionals guiding us through the process and most insurance will cover it!

We’re also getting involved in Parents as Teachers, another great resource for early childhood support. They provide home visits and help parents with everything from developmental screenings to educational activities. If anyone else is part of the program, I’d love to hear how it’s going for you.

So, while we definitely had a slip-up today, everything worked out in the end. It’s just one of those parenting moments where you roll with it and move on. And if you ever find yourself in the same boat—missing an appointment or forgetting something important—don’t stress too much. Most therapists and doctors are pretty flexible, and this article on managing appointments has some great tips for staying on top of things.
